Here was me, lying minding my own business, not bothering a soul, been a good boy ALL day, and OUT came the scissors. I was a bit too late in spotting the glint reflected off my MamaRay's eyes. There she was, clipping lumps off my neck and there was no escape.
I'm slipping. That's what I am. Slipping. Too slow by half. Usually, I get under the table to put off the evil hour. Today, the old bird pulled a fast one on me.
And that's not the worst of it. Not content with clipping my golden locks, she then proceeded to throw them out of the window!! I ask you? She might at least have put a strand or two in the old locket thing she wears round her neck. I was attached to those curls. They were special to me. But no....out of the window they went, no bother at all.
And THEN, to add insult to injury, a wee bird flew in and snaffled them. Right before my very eyes it swooped and pinched my golden locks! The cheek of it. You'd think it had enough feathers to keep it warm without having to pinch my hair!!
Hmmmmmmmm I am NOT impressed.
And if you think this is a half a tail windup, I have evidence to prove it.
Hmmmmmmmmmm I am STILL not impressed.
Blessed birds and their blessed nesting. Oh oh. I see scissors. I'm OFF!!!!!

We were lying there, me on the floor, Bengi at the door. The old birds were chattering away good style, paying no attention whatsoever to us. We were bored. I put down my head and sighed, then caught a wink from Bengi. In a flash, and as quiet as you like, my big pal stretched up and gently pulled down the door handle. In a whisker we were out on the deck admiring the view. At least I was, Bengi, my clever old pal was flicking the door closed with his bottom. We stood for a minute. Nothing. The chattering inside was still going on at full swing. What on earth do they find to talk about for such a long time? Beats me. With ne'er a backward glance we stepped off the deck and had a bit wander around. A sniff here, a pee there. The noise of birds munching and the possibility of a crumb falling drew us to the bird feeder at the front. Mistake! We were there and scratching around before we realised that we might be seen from inside. From the corner of my eye I saw a shadow loom above.....it was MamaJ. We'd been spotted. Fun over. No more meandering. The old birds were out and had us trooped back inside as quick as you like. Pity. We'd managed to find a crumb or two and there were more around. Next time.[ add comment ]

That was me this morning. Not my Mama Ray's favourite person! Well she did leave her plate of toast on the table close enough for me to whip a piece, so what else could I do? A piece was hanging over the edge of the plate which was over the edge of the table. All I did was rescue it from falling on the floor! And all I got for thanks was a clip round the ear!
Anyway, she forgave me and gave wme a wee tiny crust of her last piece!
Now here I am in the car alone again and they're off doing their usual-shopping- when a big yellow bird appears in the sky. I watched it through the sunroof fly closer and closer and closer. Time for me to get my head under the covers I think! The noise was ear-splitting! Can't see it now, but the old birds were out with their cameras taking pictures, so it must have landed just out of sight. Might see it when we go, but that might be a while since old Mama Ray is on the computer AGAIN!!!
What a life!

Yes, the old birds are in the shops again and I'm left in the car. I spend a lot of my time here, watching folks come and go. Looks a bit windy today, and the rain is sweeping across in horizontal mode. I'd like to be out in that...love the feeling on my fur, the way it ruffles up as the wind waves across it. But I'm not out. Stuck in again. At least there might be the hope of a walk later-though I'm not holding my breath. I expect they'll get home, settle in and not venture out again. Oh well, suppose it's back to lounging on the couch again this afternoon!!
With a wee cocking of my ear, I hear that it's back home next week. I'll be glad. Love my green field and chasing the ball and Benji and all tose lovely aunts and uncles. I get a bit petted, but I LOVE it!!
Oh Oh....I spy some faces I met a few weeks ago. Weren't they the ones supposed to be related? Mum and sisters? Yes, they're looking over. I'll give them my best profile. Turned out well didn't I? Handsome fellow? They're coming over. Smile boy!
That's it. Ooooh Ahhhh Yes I can certainly woo the crowds. Star potential. Should have been to Crufts!

Yes, I'm still alive and woofing! Haven't had time to wooflog for AGES!!! In fact it may have been a year ago that I last put paw to keyboard!!
Anyway, here I am AT LAST.....
So what's been happening to old four paws in the year that has just passed? Plenty as ever. Living with these old birds is to tell the truth a bit of an adventure. Never know quite where you'll end up when they swan off into the far blue yonder.
At the moment we're close to my birthplace in Connel near Oban. Don't remember much of the birth experience, though we did run into my birthmum and litter sisters the other day. Had a wee sniff around. They seemed friendly enough, and it sounds like we're going to visit. No doubt there'll be the standard photo shoot and a lot of oohing and ahhing about how wonderful we are. We know that. Pedigree pooches all of us. I of course am the unusual one of the litter. All the others were black or black and white. Throw-back I was to a very handsome grandfather. Must make sure old MamaRay lets me shower and have a trim before the visit. Have to look my best. But then again........MamaRay and scissors tend to get carried away and my lovely locks tend to end up as bird-nest lining!!
Anyway, good to be back on the keys. Will try to get a word in now and again when the old birds let me!
A Woofing good year to all my readers!!
